Write for us
We welcome pitches from writers with a distinct idea about pastimes, making, games, collections or the shape of free time. A strong proposal gives readers something clear to understand, compare or try.
What we look for
We are interested in evergreen explanations, thoughtful comparisons, histories of leisure and focused guides for particular activities or occasions. Proposals should be specific enough to show what makes the story worth reading, while useful to a general audience without relying on professional, official or local-rule checks.
Make the pitch concrete
Tell us the working idea, its central point, who it is for and how you would approach it. Mention relevant experience only as context for the proposal; do not assume that a credential or personal anecdote alone makes a story. Please flag any commercial interests or relationships relevant to the subject.
Where to send it
Send proposals through the Contact page and select the editorial question option. We cannot promise to accept or reply to every submission, and a pitch should not include confidential information or material you do not have permission to share.
Leisure is more than leftover time
A pastime need not become a project or a passion. We look at the many ways people choose to play, make, collect and spend an unhurried hour.
